Description
The Laforza is a rare Italian luxury SUV, originally known as the Rayton Fissore Magnum, that was produced from the late 1980s to the early 2000s. It was designed by Tom Tjaarda and was built on a rugged, military-derived chassis, combining luxurious Italian styling with American Ford V8 engines.
Despite its luxury features and robust construction, it had low sales, making it a very rare vehicle today. The interior featured high-end touches like leather seats, wood trim, power accessories, and a spacious cabin. It had significant ground clearance and was built for heavy-duty use, though its heavy weight impacted its fuel economy.
The vehicle used a torsion-bar front suspension and rear leaf springs. Importantly for a luxury vehicle, it lacked anti-lock brakes (ABS) and airbags in most models. It was notably wider than a Range Rover Classic, allowing for a spacious cabin with seating for three adults in the back. The vehicle was powered by a Ford 5.0 litre EFI engine. This was coupled with Chrysler's "Selec-Trac" (2WD high, 4WD high, 4WD low) New Process 229 transfer case. The rolling chassis and its interior was finished by Pininfarina in Italy.

Modifications on this car
I did not carry out any modifications to this car. It proved a little unreliable in the heat of the Middle East where I owned it. Often overheating and having to switch the airconditioning OFF to let the engine cooling system catch up. It was used as a daily to-from work vehicle by myself and two other freinds. We did try it in the desert once, but again its cooling system was either faulty or not capable of cooling the engine properly. It handled the off-roading OK, but the cooling let it down.
