Description
The five-door "Sportback" model was introduced in June 2004. The A3 Sportback is 80 mm (3.1 in) longer than the base three-door body, and includes improved rear cabin space and a larger luggage compartment (370 litres). It also received the new "single frame" front grille originally introduced in the A8 W12, which was later adopted across the whole A3 range.
Modifications on this car
I purchased the car at a damaged car auction. The interior was extremely dirty, and all four wheel rims were badly damaged. In addition, there was a nasty dent on the left-hand rear door pillar—it appeared that a seatbelt buckle had been jammed there. I had a panel beater remove the dent and give the car a cut and polish. I deep-cleaned the interior, and it came up like new.
I purchased a set of aftermarket wheel rims in the Audi Rotor style—the same design fitted to the RS3. The car looked great when I was finished. I on-sold it to a car dealer in Manukau City, who put it on their lot. The car was powered by the more reliable and sought-after 1.8 TFSI engine, and it drove perfectly.
