The F01/F02/F03/F04 is the fifth-generation 7 Series, which was produced from 2008 to 2015. The model range consisted of standard length and long wheelbase ("Li" "Ld" models) sedans. The F01 was the first BMW to be available with a hybrid drivetrain ("ActiveHybrid 7"), 8-speed automatic transmission..
I purchased the car at a government auction. It had been a government vehicle from new. The only issue I found was that the front suspension lower ball joints were worn. These were easy to replace, and once I did, the car drove perfectly.
In typical BMW style, it didn’t feel like a large car to drive. The engine was sporty, and the car was surprisingly quick and nimble for its size—very nice to drive. The family loved riding in it, as it was incredibly quiet and smooth, with a very spacious rear seat area. There were even footrests installed in the back—very nice indeed. The family nicknamed it the travelling lounge suite.
BMW quoted 40 mpg for this model, but I found that figure conservative. I could easily achieve 50 mpg, which was astonishing.
